Athletes shine for Orissa with 4 medals

Orissa bagged four medals including one gold, two silver and one bronze medals on the second day of the 9th Federation Cup Junior Athletics Championship at Lucknow today. Renubala Mahanta won the gold in under-20 girls’ long jump, clearing a distance of 5.82 metres. This was the second personal medal for Renubala, who claimed a bronze 100 metre sprint earlier on the opening day. The two silver medals were secured by Dharmedhar Mahanta and Rabi Das in under-20 boys’ 110 metre hurdles and long jump respectively. Dharmedhar took 14.45 seconds and Rabi cleared 7.32 metres to achieve the success. Manoj Hemrum grabbed the bronze medal in under-20 boys decathlon with a total of 5,852 points.
